Dear Parents & Students,
Welcome to the 6th Grade! This year you will
have 2 teachers in the 6th grade– myself (Mrs. Howard) and Ms. Barker. This is my 6th year teaching
the 6th grade at Meadows Valley, and Ms. Barker’s 3rd. We are both anxious to return to
Meadows Valley School after a wonderful summer, and look forward to meeting all of you in the days to come.
This year you can look forward to a lot of math…I know, it may seem hard to look forward
to math, but I guarantee that it won’t be so bad and you may even enjoy it a little bit!
In science
we will cover many fun topics – some you have touched on before in earlier classes through the Core Knowledge curriculum
– such as Ecology, Changes in the Earth’s Crust, Oceans, Astronomy, Energy – Heat – and Energy Transfer,
and The Circulatory and Lymphatic Systems.
It almost seems like too much to fit into 9 short months, but
we will do it and we will have some fun along the way. Please ask your parents to come into the school whenever they would like to visit
and see what we are doing! As a parent, you are invited into our class at any time. You may volunteer to help, or you may just want
to observe. Please feel welcome to stop by. If you would like to volunteer to help with class parties, please let us know.
We will be having a Halloween party, a Christmas party, and a Valentine’s Day party.
This is going to be a great year!!!
Most
Sincerely,
Mrs. Howard & Ms. Barker
